I think we have all been there Allan

The Real Pain Of The entist

Mate I had this massive tooth ache was playing drums inside my head
The pain was near ten out of ten , So I made that call I dread.
Now I hate going to the dentist the thought near drives me into tears
those bloody great big needles bring out my greatest fears.

I sat there in the foyer working up into a state
the dentist has some problems and he is running really late.
You can hear every sound from inside, I was squirming in my chair
it sounds like a dammed jackhammer is going off in there.

You can come in now Mr Pacey the young girl was so sweet
I was sure that she would notice the water puddle at my feet.
I climbed into the dentist chair they put this bib around me neck
then they stuck these glasses on me, I though holy bloody heck.

I’ve got this pain I told him it nearly makes me cry
he looked inside my open gob and let out this mournful sigh.
I used to work out west ya see they had no time to drill no doubt
if you had a tooth with cavities they just yanked the buggers out.

So all my front teeth now were worn out and almost to the bone
I’d had root cannels and fillings and heaps of dough I’d blown.
Paid for inlays on the top but though it may sound funny.
all but one had fallen out so I was looking like Bugs Bunny.

We’ll take all of those back ones and cap those down below.
Then rip out all the top ones your smile will really glow.
Thirteen extractions later I was feeling rather sore.
The tech is making up a plate but I think they broke my jaw.

The dentist worked on steadily to cap those down below.
then slipped the top plate into place to see how it would go.
It fitted like a bloody glove and after just a while.
I found with little effort I now had a beaming smile.

It felt so great to smile again I could not hide the thrill
I though I might even shave my mo off and then I got the bill.
Eight thousand flaming dollars that hit my pocket hard
I’m lucky I’ve got medibank so I just wacked it on my card.

I’m really happy with my teeth I think they got it right
and I get to put them on the shelf in a glass jar every night.
But here’s a word of warning if your smile is not so nice
when the dentist says this will not hurt at all ask about the price.
