HAVE YOU HEARD?

I'm not one to gossip, but I have just heard
that someone is out there and spreading the word
that I have loose lips, which is clearly absurd,
so keep this between you and me.

I heard it from Shirley, who got it from Julie
who said that the rumour had come from yours truly,
I swear I don't tattle, I swear that is true - she
has just made it up, can't you see?

Now, Julie, she swears I was overheard telling
both Betty and Mable, that Edith was selling
her feminine charms to all those who were willing,
But that's something I would not do.

Now even if Edith was doing the business
with Tom, Dick and Harry, with God as my witness
I'd not tell a soul - once again, I must stress
Just keep this between you and me.

That's funny Allan and so true, especially in a small town. I've had people come up to me and tell me they had thought I was now living in QLD. As if! (Sorry Bob, but it's not everybody's Mecca). I was very naughty once (well maybe more than once but we'll stick to this once) and told someone something about myself that wasn't true (as a bit of a test) and it took 10 minutes for someone else to come to me tell me about it.

This is why I am very sceptical of conspiracy theories.
If no one has talked, then I reckon that most likely there is nothing to talk about.

There is no truth in the rumour that this is about my new home town, albeit a small town

To me, Albury is a big town! My wee town has a population of about 4000 but used to be 2000 when I first moved there. People think that because i'm not in the paper any more that I don't live there now. That's called under the radar.

How come you are often in the paper, what have you been up to ???
