I Can’t Believe It

I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when times I held most dear,
tease every effort to recall,
more so each passing year.
I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when shorts and shirts unpressed
I wear to local shopping marts
reflecting who cares mode of dress.
I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when dinner’s served at six,
and friends around for Scrabble
provide my daily fix.
I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when bits of me each night,
are left in special places
awaiting morning’s light.
But most of all I can’t believe
when once it’s dark I find,
I’m thinking “Time for PJ’s”
And sleep, just sleep, is on my mind.
when times I held most dear,
tease every effort to recall,
more so each passing year.
I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when shorts and shirts unpressed
I wear to local shopping marts
reflecting who cares mode of dress.
I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when dinner’s served at six,
and friends around for Scrabble
provide my daily fix.
I can’t believe I’ve reached an age
when bits of me each night,
are left in special places
awaiting morning’s light.
But most of all I can’t believe
when once it’s dark I find,
I’m thinking “Time for PJ’s”
And sleep, just sleep, is on my mind.
