The Time Has Come.

State of Origin 2015
The winter cold is coming you can feel it in the air
and it chills you to the bottom of your soul.
For with it comes the pinnacle of the greatest game of all
and to bring the shield back home that is our goal.
For twelve long months its sat there in the cockroaches domain
after eight long years in Queenslands solid hand.
Now the times come to return it to its rightful owners grasp
time for Queenslanders to stamp a winning brand.
The excuses have been flowing in the press and on the news
Laurie Daley just can’t seem to find the team.
That can match the Queensland spirit, the passion and the drive
his hope to win another series, just a dream.
The Queenslanders, they are ready just like they always are
primed for battle they’ll be eager for the fight.
Just like they were the time Big Artie Beetson led them out
no one believed that they could do it on that night.
They say our players are all ageing that their time is close at hand
when no longer will their dominance prevail.
But we know with age comes wisdom and when the chips are down
it is that wisdom that ensures they will not fail.
We don’t care what team the Blues pick it’s not in our control
but the battle lines are set and firmly laid.
One series win does not make champions and is easily reversed
for we know their best will never make the grade.
They think they’ve found the answer to this surging Queensland tide.
but in their hearts there is a fear they cannot hide.
For a Queenslanders never beaten until that the final whistle blows
and that is why they are a champion side.
The first game is down in Sydney the place the cockroaches call home
but they know the battle that is now in store.
The cry of “Queenslander” will echo through the stands at ANZ
as Queenslands finest stand in victory once more.
