A WORLD APART

A WORLD APART

Her seas have the colour of deepest blue sapphires
an onyx black dark lava field.
Her sunsets are coloured with ruby red fire,
her vineyards sweet emerald grapes yield.
The exquisite ocean views constantly change
with the light and nights bright stars surprise.
Whilst gold and pink tones tinge the cream cottage walls,
a picture painted by the sunrise.

The glorious mornings are washed in the dew
and caressed by the most gentle breeze.
The countryside’s tinged with a soft pastel hue
there are wild flowers for birds and for bees.
The scent of the wattle and ironbark lingers
so sweet on the breath of the dawn.
Boronia too adds its spice to the mix
to another day glorious born.

Won’t you come with me to this lovely sweet isle
with towering pinnacles of pine
and harsh rugged coastline with white sand rimmed bays
and a history ancient as time?
Won’t you walk the trails that meander the headlands
and gaze out ’cross vistas of blue
and wonder perhaps who had walked them before
many eons ago? As you do.

Gaze over the line of jagged granite peaks.
The Hazards which nature provided
and pink rock formations down at Wineglass Bay
with deep clefts and fissures divided.
As you stand in wonder here at Freycinet,
admiring the Mothers perfection,
do you hear whispers from eons ago
a mere wisp of a French recollection?

Her seas have the colour of deepest blue sapphires
an onyx black dark molten field.
Her sunsets are coloured with ruby red fire
and her vineyards sweet emerald grapes yield.
The countryside’s tinged with a soft pastel hue
there are wild flowers for birds and for bees.
A jewel in our oceans, a pendant of charm
close surrounded by sapphire blue seas.

Beautiful descriptive poem Maureen - makes me feel like going home (born Lowana between Strahan and Queenstown, West Coast).
