I’m addicted!
There I’ve said it.
It’s driving me insane.
I'm high just thinking ‘bout it,
the most exquisite pain.
I dream of creamy garlic prawns,
white wine and chilli crab,
belly pork and baby ribs
and succulent kebab.
I drool o’er thoughts
of beef done rare,
of oysters in the shell,
of blue vein cheese, smoked salmon,
quiche lorraine and tagliatelle.
My thoughts take wing
and roam the night
caressing each surprise.
Venison and red wine jus
and plates that tantalize.
My taste buds scream for seconds
of pan fried Snapper strips,
plated up with lemon sauce
and crunchy golden chips,
of mustard coated rack of lamb,
mint jelly on the side,
with crispy roast potatoes.
Dear Lord - where can I hide
from gastronomic works of art
by finest three hat chefs,
to Aussie pies at footy games
while shouting at the ref.
You see, these thoughts I must dispel.
This craving … got to fight it.
The doc told me I’m overweight
and put me on a diet.
