Behind the garden shed

I've been going through my document file and creating a series of new files for Finished Poems, short poems etc and was surprised at just how many there were.
As we were talking about early love I thought I'd put this one up; It's probably been posted before somewhere!

Behind The Shed

Remember how we use to meet behind your fathers shed,
out through the window down the tree so silently I sped.
I’d sneak out through the shadows that were cast upon the ground,
ignoring then the consequence if we were ever found.

You’d greet me with a clumsy kiss although still out of breath,
I’d tell you that I loved you then, despite my fear of death.
For if your father caught us I was sure he’d blow his top,
he may forgive his darling girl, but I’d be for the chop.

We’d whisper then of wedding plans in years that lay ahead,
then giggle at this escapade and thoughts of being wed.
I’d look into your lovely eyes and you stare into mine,
back in those days when I was ten and you had just turned nine.

Hi Maureen,
Sadly just a brief romance, though I can still see her near white blonde hair and big blue eyes.

Shortly after I was shipped to a boarding school (The Stalag - is that how you spell it?) up in the hills near Perth and run by the Nuns.
It was an all boys school and that was the end of girlfriends for the foreseeable future.

Hi Heather,
As mentioned I've been sorting out and trying to get a bit of order in my poetry files and have been surprised at the number of short poem I have - most of them are just a bit of fun really.

Hi Marty,
I suppose it seemed like an mischievous adventure back then - but still great memories to look back on.

Cheers Terry

Hi terry. I enjoyed reading your poem and it had me revisiting my primary school days. There was one girl that I always wanted to partner at the fancy dress balls. Didn't happen unfortunately. :( :(

Thanks Wazza,

it's great looking back to our childhood days isn't it.

I actually had another little girlfriend (brief as it was) about that time as well.
I'll never forget my embarrassment sitting in the Movies and this girl planting a big kiss, right in front of the whole theatre audience.
I can still remember these grown ups telling us we were to young; turned me off girls a long time.
I was about 10 at the time and to give you some idea, I'm fairly ancient now.

Cheers Terry

You're right Bob
And in those days and at that age, it was mortifying to be actually seen kissing a girl - yuk!

Terry from one ancient to another, memories are about all that's left these days and they're getting a bit cloudy too.
