11/11 Found Poetry.

Post by Neville Briggs » Tue Nov 13, 2012 1:51 pm

A bit of found poetry for the 11/11. Apologies to all, I could only do it in free verse as it is found poetry.

What was pompous about it???? :o The man had been dealt a mortal blow - did we expect him to fall on his sword as well?

It was his rude eviction that pretty well put me off politics as I figured what is the use of voting for them when someone else can boot them off - all seemed a bit farcical to me and I liked Gough 8-)

... yep, those 'free' versers can call anything poetry (and usually do) ...

Sorry Nev, if there's no rhyme - it's a crime ...

Oh, Maureen, his voice was pompous and his stance - always. I was a wee young thing so the politics at the time was lost on me - but I remember the voice clearly. :)

Malcolm Fraser also spoke pompously too if it makes you feel any better Maureen. No reflection on the politics. Oh, plus pompous is SUCH a good word and I never get to use it! :)

Sorry Folks,
But I have to agree with Heather on this one, on both accounts.

Mind you I once had my breakfast served to me by Malcolm Fraser while fly fishing at the world Championships in Tasmania in 1988.
I wonder if Gough was a flyfisher as well; doubt it?

Forget about the politics, look at the sheer poetry. Gough was a master of the dramatic pause. :) Hardly surprising, he was a barrister and married to a judge's daughter.
Malcolm Fraser couldn't do anything like it. The best he managed was " Life wasn't meant to be easy "...not even original. Well, he was a sheep farmer.

Bring before us evil Neville.

Guilty, your worshipfulness.

Yes, crime is what you've wrought.
Now sentence is decreed,
we'll spare you from the noose,
