My Darling Love One

Here is another early one, I think I posted it on the old site, my 1st & so far only attempt at a song, it flows along nicely to the tune of Don Williams's song 'I recall a gypsy woman' one of my favorites.

My Darling Love One

I saw you there, my darling love one,
crimson dress and auburn hair,
you took my breath from deep within me
glowing beauty, beyond compare.

All summer long, my darling love one,
we would walk, hand in hand,
then beneath the, fading sunshine,
we were wed, on golden sand.

Your smile would light the darkness
Your love would fill the sky
My tears flowed like a river
The day you said goodbye.

We built a home, my darling love one,
full of hope, and filled with dreams,
raised our children, to adulthood,
made it through, the harsh extremes.

Where have the years gone, my darling love one,
living here, our patch of land,
we’d go for walks down, to the markets,
so in love, and hand in hand.

Your smile would light the darkness
Your love would fill the sky
My tears flowed like a river
The day you said goodbye.

Oh! How I miss you, my darling love one,
no more sun — shine, in my life,
I’m imprisoned, in my own body,
now without, my loving wife.

I’ll hold you soon, my darling love one,
be as one, in god’s own land,
walk his green fields, always together,
once again, hand in hand.

Your smile would light the darkness
Your love would fill the sky
My tears flowed like a river
The day you said goodbye.

Mmm! Mmmmm! Mmm! Mmmm!
Mmm! Mmmmm!
