OPRAH AT THE OPERA

OPRAH AT THE OPERA

Oprah came to Oz to visit with her massive entourage
Saw Uluru, red sand and flies – this girl has travelled far
and she made no bones about it, she just loved what she saw
‘I love Australia’ - she cried. ‘I’m coming back for more.’

She climbed the Sydney coat hanger and there enjoyed the view
diminished though it was by another hundred or two
who climbed the girders with her to stand up there so high
surveying Sydney harbour and a bright blue Sydney sky.

She went sailing with Russell with not a crow in sight.
They tacked and jibbed, and drank champagne – she never once took fright.
Some foolish person asked him if his own sails he unfurled.
This of a Master and Commander who’s sailed the far side of the world?

She went to visit Melbourne and many fans were there.
Had a guided tour with Julia the PM with red hair.
Then morning tea with Nic and Keith – an Urban point of view.
No doubt held the Byron lighthouse up, as all good tourists do.

But one suspects that the real highlight of her whirlwind Aussie trip
was her visit to the Opera House – more champagne there to sip
‘neath the white sails so resplendent with the million dollar view,
where as the crow flies young Russell’s not far away it’s true.

And Aussies being Aussies it don’t take much imagination
to be sure that we will now surely rename by acclamation
the white icon of the city for we already now espouse
that the glorious white edifice is now the Oprah house.

Maybe Oprah would like to buy the Opera House, after all sale of assets to foreign moneybags
is a brilliant idea of theirs that the Government thought of.

I saw a photo of Oprah parading with Nic and Keith, Hugh and Russell. I couldn't help but reflect on how there appear at times, true blue Aussies from far away who seem to be pretty hard to spot in the land of Oz when there are no big publicity gigs.

Sorrry, I'm a bit negative. Wonder why ?
