Just for Marty.

BORE WATER



I was out in western Queensland where the land is dry and bare
on a visit to the homestead of a friend.
The evening meal was simple just basic wholesome fare
roast pork and veges always served it's end.

We rose early in the morning to a bright and cheery sky
on the table breakfast was already laid.
A hearty meal of bacon, beans and toast was our repast
when finished we reclined into the shade.

The dinner bell rang loud and long as lunch was duly served
cold ham and salad met our hungry eye.
I was feeling mighty thirsty and enquired as to a drink
for a glass of ice cold water would I die.

The host looked slightly shaken "I'm so sorry Bob" she said
bore water is all that we have I fear
"oh my gosh" I blurted out with a look that showed dismay
you really do use all the pig round here.

Hey I was not the one who brought the subject up and used an OLD GRANDAD joke.


I wrote that way back in 1999 probably before you were born or thought of ya cheeky young wipper snapper.


They are good little fill in poems when you are compering and need to fill gaps.
