THE FOOD COURT

We've got tantalising Turkish bread
that's topped with tasty cheese.
We've got seafood sushi, spicy shrimps
and hot wasabi peas.

I'll have a pie with sauce.

We've got vindaloo with coconut,
kebabs and chutney; mild or hot
with pappadums, potato puffs
and korma with the lot.

A pie, a pie with sauce !

Well, there's rice that's fried or pork with rice
and saffron rice that's nice.
We have cannelloni, macaroni,
beef lasagna slice.

I said..a pie with sauce!!

You can keep your fancy foreign food,
I'll choose my favourite fare,
like the good old Aussie gravy grub
that's baked with gutsy flair.

Give me a pie with sauce.
PLEASE!!!

Well Neville, here's me thinking you would be reaching into your manbag for your man purse to purchase a spring roll, or a rollmop, or some fancy tucker, when all the time you're just a plain old pie eatin' aussie bloke! next thing you will be listening to Slim Dusty records .....

Take you anywhere Neville, as long as you can have a pie with sauce! I thought some of those other options sounded good.

What's with the silly hat though? A pink quill? Very questionable! And the tongue hanging out - is that at the thought of the pie and sauce?

Heather :)

Enjoyed the poem by the way!

G'day Ross. Are you sure that the speaker in the verse is really me

Thanks for the reply Heather. Dave Emo gave me a beret so I could be a proper literati with a beret and roll neck scivvy. The pink quill was a souvenir of Cambridge UK, that my neighbour bought back for me recently, she knew it would suit my sensitive poesy writings.

...Ah...good point neville....no I'm not sure.

About to head North East to Lake Nash, up near Camooweal, bit nervous about the trip, some rain around and that black soil country is treacherous in the wet, hopefully I will be back Friday.

Heather..I'm serious.
Nah.

The very well known Sydney opera singer, Dennis Olsen, starred in a " campy ' version of Gilbert and Sullivan's opera " Patience " . He played the part of an " aesthetic " poet and he came out dressed in velvet vest and pants and writing poetry in a book with a quill made from a peacock's feather
