Just a quick rhyming kinda aussie sonnet sorta thing???
Whatever. I like it
Two gangs of primate humans meet
Upon the darkened, deathly street
Big men, fists bunched, their rage on hold
Until their instincts have been told
"Unleash thy selves!!" 'neath lamp post's glare
Answer nod with frozen stare
Muscles tighten, on a wall
Graffiti, fading, says it all
Nobody spits, nobody budges
No one curses. bearing grudges
Silently! Then midst them all,
A man in white doest bounce a ball.

Not bad mate. But 'crushed is a little subtle' don't you think?

Little bird, grey and speckled out strolling this day
cruising road's centre-line, failed to obey
the squawkings of Mummy. Here comes a car - SPLAT.
I look in rear mirror - Awww, chickie's all flat ...
(The Bombers played pretty well last weekend)

I see the footy and poetry gods have combined . . . Gold Coast Suns have a ruckman called Daniel Gorringe - a rhyme for a previously unrhymable word (no not daniel/cocker spaniel
) and ironically what colour is the Suns gurnsey?? Well . . . sorta red.
ps. no matter how many differing pastel shades of fluro they clad them in they'll always be white maggots.

Hey Keats...
What a curious but clever poem. It's amazing how differently people's minds work. I really thought you had gone a bit 'spiritual'...then realised via the replies it was all about footy...and then...up pops our Neville with 'the Pope'...
Seriously...speaking of the Pope & Cardinals etc...I went with croc to dump flood rubbish & there was a whole box of books there. Yay! One of them would blow your mind! It is called 'In God's Name' by David Yallop. It's about Albino Luciani, Pope John Paul 1, & his death after only 33 days 'in office'. Very scary stuff.
Anyway....we're back...for a week. One day I may just get enough time to attend to my craft.

G'daay Bob.
Had to tear home to keep my promise to baby sit a Grandy. Will tear back out there next Thurs to keep yet another promise to cheer up the Theodore oldies.
Thanks for enquiring mate. You've made me a bit nostalgic, as our dear mate Bobby Miller used to call me 'Chooky' at times. I really miss Bobby. I think that started up after Frank Daniel labelled me 'The Rhode Island Red'....I think it was Frank, bless him.
Actually 'romantic' & 'croc' are devoid of each other...deep sigh...but I did help him load some cow dung onto the ute on The Boulevard.
I've yet to catch up with the old man who knew my Dad from years & years ago...looking forward to that. No paid gigs as yet. Too short notice I reckon. Take care old mate...
