G'day Kym...
Terrific to see this poem receive the plaudits it justly deserves. I think it would have been a 'lay-down misere' in just about any bush poetry comp it was entered in. Congratulations.

I don't know if you know the poem "Christmas Belle" by John Carew ? The 'remount' recruitment from a different perspective. I'm sure you would like it. (Quite difficult to navigate the web-page, but it starts on page 116 by their notation, about half way down the page.)

Had to revisit this after the other night Kymmbo. Holds so much importance now as I can read it and hear your voice in the background. Sends shivers up my spine. ( Not your voice ) the poem.

Having raised and broken in a few young horses you sure build a repore.

These boys sure did the same and it must have been gut wrenching to have to say goodbye
after what they'd been through.

Your poem really got to me Kym ... the way listening to the Last Post does on Anzac Day. Loved it.

Sadly Wazza - our Kym is no longer with us having lost her battle with cancer in February 2014 - although I am sure she is with us still in spirit. She was a very special lady much loved my many of us bush poets and her memory will live on through us. She was without a doubt one hell of a poet.
