G/day and thanks Bill,
As I said to Neville, I guess as we get older, more & more mates will reach the end of their days; I guess that's life mate.

G/day Marty,
For most of us our childhood days on through to our teens were special, even if at times things were tough.
We formed those special friendships that occasionally go on for a lifetime, but sadly for one reason or another
we often eventually grow apart. Or like your two mates don't make it through to a reasonable age.
you still have fond memories but you both have changed, that special friendship began to fade a little as you each found new friends.

Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Terry.

Life can take some unexpected turns and with work and family commitments you can neglect friendships. Life just seems too busy to smell the roses sometimes.

I met up with one of my best friends from Uni recently and I hadn't seen her for 18 odd years. We sat and talked for 3 hours and it seemed like 5 minutes. We just seemed to take up where we left off. You don't have many friends like that in life and they are to be treasured. I am learning the hard way what it is like to loose a best friend currently. :(

Thanks Darren,
I think the helter skelter lifestyle some of us lead these days is part of the reason why friends sometimes drift appart, often without even realizing it's happening. It's sometimes only later when it's too late to do anything about it, we at last realize just what we've lost. True friendships are very precious.

Cheers Terry

Tell me about it !! I have been trying to make contact with an old surfing mate who was also the best man at my wedding for quite a while but with no success.

Bob
The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

Hmmm. Best man at your wedding for quite a while ....... what happened then, a punch-up and somebody else had to step in?

It was just the way you wrote it, - couldn't resist.

Sorry Bob ......... no I'm not

G/day Bob & Henry,

I reckon we all have friends,or even mates, who for no apparent reason we've somehow lost contact with over the years.

Another thing that sometimes happens is that when you do again meet an old friend again after many years - especially one from your younger days - you find you have both changed so much that the old magic's gone. You're still happy to catch up again, but that special bond has been lost along the way.

Cheers Terry
