G'day Terry, I wasn't suggesting that we should have a go at other styles. My example was to show that bush poetry can be accepted in the " contemporary " scene, at least by some. So if we work at our bush poetry and make it the best quality that we can ( Graham Fredricksen for example ) then we can stand alongside any works of the " literati ".

Your little joke reminded me of a CD that I have. It has an episode of Hancock's Half Hour called the Poetry Society in which Tony Hancock, Sid James, Bill Kerr and Warren Mitchell send up the beatniks and their abstract poetry. I think they mainly target Arthur Rimbaud. It's hilarious, a classic, if anyone knows it?

When I read the title Terry and the pukka British accent I thought this must have royal connections and was very pertinent with Prince William doing the visiting at the moment - and the reference to Mater and Pater convinced me it was so - but then who the hell is Jennifer ...so possibly not but enjoyed the read anyway Mate...good fun

Cheers

G/day Neville,
You make an excellent point about trying to achieve the very best we can with our poetry, which I'm sure we all strive to do.
I'm always aware though that some poets just like doing their own thing, and get great pleasure out of doing just that in their own time and in their own way, and this probably applies to any form of poetry, more power to them I say.
I haven't heard that CD but it sounds great, I a great fan British humor. Don't mind a bit of Country music either, just thought I'd throw that in for some unknown reason.

Cheers Terry

Hi Maureen,
Funny you should mention that as I had indeed been toying with a royal skit but got cold feet not wanting to upset the Royalist at this time, so had a dig at the nearest thing I could think off - the aristocracy instead. Still have my Royal version floating around in my head.

Cheers Terry

Neville
I have that book and I read it but I have to tell you I do not read all and think I only like about half, some interesting concepts.

TTFN Dave.
