Possibly one of the first poems I wrote. Not sure what year but I know you QLD landers will remember. I wander where he is today.
Tjandamurra O'Shane.
In a sleepy northern city on a sunny summer day
Amongst the sounds of springtime laughter,With friends at school did play
Enjoying life like every child of six has right to do
Loving every moment, not a care to trouble you.
No one could have had the sight what end of day would bring
As you jostled with your playmates,When you heard the school bell ring.
Nor could anyone but God have known what terror lay ahead.
The seed of death were sown that day within a sick man's head.
The pain was something only you could try to understand
As you tried to shield your body, from this fiendish human hand.
A cry of help was answered by a savior standing near.
And a mothers arms around you helped to gather in your fear.
One never knows what fate awaits beyond horizons far.
Whether we will end our life, By war, or Plane, or car.
But no one could imagine, the terror of your plight.
That some demented human could just set you alight.
Australians love their hero's, and they have another one.
If we had the right by order, we would have you as our son.
God had to make a choice that day and wanted someone strong.
Who had the will and courage, to stand this evil wrong.
Imagine if it wasn't you, and He chose another son.
Who didn't have the will to fight, the battle to be won.
Some mother in your city, today would weep her loss.
And pray to God, Why Lord.? Why Me.?As she lays flowers at a cross.
The world is full of famous men who's deeds will never wane.
All written in our history, a guiding path for us is lain.
But somewhere, ever constant as we face life daily drain.
We will nae forget the household name of, Tjandamurra O'Shane.

Re: Tjandamurra O'Shane
Tjandamurra O'Shane, in 1996 was a six year old boy playing in a Cairns school yard when a mentally ill bloke walked in, doused him with 5 litres of petrol and set him alight.
If media reports are anything to go by, Tjandamurra is doing well.
It touched a lot of people, Noel . . thanks mate.

So sad that little ones become the victims of men's unrest.
Sad but reflective memory Marty.
