Saturday Night

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Sat May 28, 2016 8:27 pm

Saturday Night

Saturday night, Saturday night.
There ain’t no other like Saturday night.

Saturday night’s the time for dreams,
For wishes riding on moon-beams.

Saturday night’s the night for hope,
The night that lets out so much rope.

Saturday night’s the night to think,
And into reveries to sink.

Saturday night’s for all that’s past,
For letting go, or holding fast.

Saturday night’s for what’s to come –
A slice of cake, or just a crumb?

Saturday night you make your own –
The frenzied crowd, or home alone.

Saturday night’s for ships at sea,
For pirates, treasure, mystery.

Saturday night’s for mountains high,
For snow-capped peaks against the sky.

Saturday night’s a great expanse –
Adventure, fantasy, romance.

Saturday night, Saturday night.
There ain’t no other like Saturday night.

The repeating theme is a neat way to introduce various images. Where I live, Friday night is the social night of the frenzied crowds but for me, every night is the stay at home alone night.

Ah well, Neville, I guess you're never completely alone when you have the forum, eh?

Saturday night, a night for wishing things were otherwise.
