FOR THE BEAVER (MY FATHER)
Been thumbing through photos of me and my dad.
He's long passed away, but it still makes me sad.
We kind of lost touch when I went to explore.
I still hear his words as I walked out the door.
It's been twenty years since we said our goodbyes.
'Now, listen up son, here's a word to the wise.
Keep your head up, always keep your nose clean
and put money aside for when times become lean'
'Go find a good woman, one just like your ma
who'll be there beside you, no matter how far
your travels may take you, she'll be by your side.
Though roads may get rough, she'll be there for the ride.'
'My son, as you journey down life's winding track,
be sure to look forward, there's no turning back.
And when you have time,
you just drop me a line
to give me the nod that you're doing just fine.'
Well time got away, I got busy with life
I worked and I saved and I took me a wife
I wish I took time, so much more than I had
to thank you. I love you. I miss you, my dad.

Re: FOR THE BEAVER (MY FATHER)
Words we might have spoken and time we might have spent Allan. I guess we've all been there. Enjoyed your poem.
