Re: The Ovens River
There's a lot to be said about a good short poem and this one is.
Especially with the average person who's not so into poetry as say most of us,
many people switch of fairly quickly with longer modern poems.
Probably something to do with the times we live these days I guess.
Once again well done Heather.

Re: The Ovens River
Thanks again Terry. Most of my poems are about five stanzas or less because most of them are descriptions rather than stories and there is only so much you can say without starting to repeat yourself. I don't deliberately set out to write a short poem - that's just the way I tend to write.
This particular poem was a bit of an experiment. I had written some earlier ones about the Ovens River/Valley and wanted to write the same scene in a different format. It's ok, but certainly not the best I've ever written. I've written another, earlier poem in a similar format and it is probably one of my favourites. Hope to share it with you all soon.

You're priviledged Heather . . I've never even seen a Henry, let alone got to stroke one

Re: The Ovens River
I know Marty....but you're only two degrees separated from that little Henry! Robyn deserved it.

Thanks Heather, and yes I knew your poem came with a certificate attached, but I wanted everyone to see the connection!
