She Wore A White Akubra

Manfreds song has tempted me to post this
I was going through some of my old stuff recently and came across this.
SHE WORE A WHITE AKUBRA
I met her in a small town that I happened to pass through,
she smiled at me that first time and I wondered what to do.
My heart was beating faster but my shyness held me back,
I’d lost the art of small talk due to years out on the track.
But then she started speaking and she said her name was Sue,
she lived out on a station; was in town here with the crew.
And so began a romance that continues to this day.
and I just thank the good lord that he pointed me this way.
Chorus
She Wore a White Akubra and she has a heart of gold,
her smile is like the springtime that brings warmth in from the cold.
I still recall her kisses that had set my heart aglow,
Way back when we were lovers, in those years so long ago.
I knew that I had met the girl I hoped would be my wife.
and this could be the moment I’d been waiting all my life,
And so began a love match that had started with a smile.
and many years have passed now since we walked on down the aisle.
The time has passed so quickly and our problems have been few,
I look back now in wonder since the day that I met Sue.
Although our youth has left us and her hair is tinged with grey,
I still can see the beauty that I saw on that first day.
Chorus
She Wore a White Akubra and she has a heart of gold,
her smile is like the springtime that brings warmth in from the cold.
I still recall her kisses that had set my heart aglow,
way back when we were lovers in those years so long ago.
