Dark's Dawning

Dark's Dawning
(C) 2015 Glenny Palmer

Ah…beguiling Dark
your many guises greet my trusting eye
and urge me to accompany your step
upon the polished boards.

Dance! Oh dance we do
then lost within the symphony’s embrace
you go…condemning me to blindness in
The Dawn…the heartless Dawn.

Oh…didactic Dawn
opponent of my dedicated Dark
illuminating demons we disguise
that I am damned…to see.

Thank you Maureen. I was all ready to cheat & post my old rhyming dark poem...but quivered at the intimated dire repercussions of including ( gasp) rhyme. So I bashed one up pronto (non rhyming...gasp again.) Ta for the challenge. It's the first I've written in ages. xx

G'day Glenny,

Obscure? not at all. You just have to read it with your eyes closed.

Love this Glenny, and like Manfred I too particularly like the last stanza. I've read this poem several times over and got more out of it each time - so glad you decided to 'bash a new one out'! :)

Thank you Catherine Lee. I've edited that last stanza cos it was bugging me. So pleased that you enjoyed. :D

And thank you (I think) Zondrae & Bobbo. Why not have another try? There really IS a profound message in there if you think on it. But then again... old Donny Lloyd once said to me 'Your poetry makes people THINK...& they don't want to think at 7.30 in the morning.' ( at a Longyard brekky) Maybe re-read it at tea time??

G'day all,

You didn't get what I meant. I meant that the eye is not all that is needed to understand, or rather, to get something out of the verse. It is like that song Barry Crocker used to sing....
"Listen with your eyes, listen with your eyes. Sing every note you see.
You can sing a rainbow,,,," etc.

In this case it is the feeling that you have to 'hear' not the actual words. So I guess it is - read and then close your eyes and feel what the words could mean.
