Hey Neil.
Don't get despondent sweetie. Your preferred age group have started up their 'slam' poetry & that's a good indication. I know there are some frustrating things to contend with when you're clicking up the k's Oz wide to try to keep the passion alive...& not go broke in the process...Who knows just who we frustrated when we started out? Intellectual property is not something that bothers a lot of minds & it irks me too. I had a sheila promise to send me poems that were 'just like yours' (me that is) & when they arrived...they bloodywell were mine....retyped & minus my authorship. She bought them from the copy shop 'across the road.' Dear oh dear.
I recall Bobby Miller telling me about an A-1 fan blustering on to him about how many friends she'd sent burnt copies of his gear to. They just don't get it, eh?

(You seem a tad uptight lately lovey. You're one of our best ambassadors & highly respected, so try to chill a bit? You're probly missing me too much....?)

Big hugs.
Glenny

I recently had the opportunity to do workshops with the students of the Alpha, Jericho, Muttaburra, Aramac and Barcaldine schools during their Evening Light Celebrations week and on the last Saturday night, some of the children joined Chris and I as we performed at the Tree of knowledge. Most of these schools still particiapte in the Winton bush poetry competition held each year for the youth and it's great to see them getting involved.

Never got back to this one must have been lost in the dark ages. The kids performed and instead of doing it in the hall as was originally planned I convinced them to do it around the campfire .

Their performances were well set out but they did appear a bit rigid except for one young lass who performed a poem of her own will see if I can get her name as she will be a cracker ( I mean of a performer )when she gets older.

I performed at the end and hopefully made an impact I gave out all the ABPA books that I had and they were well received,.

So I await their tour next year .

Cheers Bob

Just received this today from the Koumala State School - The kids have thoroughly enjoyed their bush poetry unit of work and have obviously been telling their parents as we have had some feel good feedback. I have four poems that are the pick of the class. Am I able to scan them and email them to you for the magazine

Of course the answer was yes - and I will take great delight in being able to showcase the kids work for them - keep your eyes peeled for them, they will be in the next few issues, and hopefully it won't be just the pick but all of them. It is important to encourage children and fan a love for poetry from a spark to a flame :D
