Kembla Flame Results 2021

We were delighted with the response. We received 93 entries which included both
novices and juniors. The overall quality of the writing was excellent, which makes
the judges job all that more difficult. The first place winner was outstanding, and was
chosen in the first round by two of the three judges as the obvious winner.
The topics were varied, leaning more towards the serious rather than humourous. I
wonder if the current state of the world influenced our writers? The judges felt there
were several other poets that we wish to encourage, and certificates will be sent to
them.

The results are as follows:

First place: Deluge of the Plains by Brenda Joy
Second place: Where Angels Tread by Tom McIlveen
Highly commended: On the Brink by Shelley Hansen and Home Alone by David Stanley
Novice: The Red Heart by Julie Franzon
Junior: The Kingfisher and the Riverlady by Zoe Gardener

The trophy and other prizes will be posted as soon as possible. Any poems that are to
be published will be subject to the authors permission.
