Congratulations Terry, Brenda and Mal - along with the other winners at the Tenterfield Oracles of the Bush written and performance competitions - as published in the Results page.

Well done indeed :)

Thank you very much Terry - I hadn't heard anything or seen any results other than those on our ABPA Results page, so I wasn't aware of any recognition of my poems.

Someone put a comment on Facebook that I was "mentioned" at Tenterfield, but I assumed that was because I had given permission for one of my poems to be performed there.

I've just checked the Oracles of the Bush website and see that they have now loaded the complete results.

So again - congratulations to all :)

Cheers, Shelley

Hi Shelley

Results often take awhile to come through.

I actually received the results and my cheque within a few days of the comp.

Congratulations grinners.

I got some sort of mention in that comp a few years ago and I never did hear from the organisers - ever. I only knew because Mal told me and someone else saved me a newspaper clipping. Very poor.

Yes, Heather. It is such a great festival and it should end with all the ends tied up. I have raised this with them before. The response was that I should give them a chance to catch their breath. Like so many volunteers they kind of fall in a heap when the main work is over, so I won't be too critical. It is a pity, though.

I agree Mal
We have to remember that they're all volunteers and running a festival is tiring.
We're the same over this way and usually take awhile to get the results up as well.

This was my second win in that comp, so I reckon they're great.
I only knew that I had won the 1'st time; when the cheque arrived,
and I must say they get the cheques off as quick as anyone.

I disagree, and I'm not having a go at the Oracles people here but making a general comment. I have been a volunteer in many organisations and as an individual. If you are going to do a job you need to do it properly and that means tidying up the loose ends even though you might be tired and over it. It might mean allocating a volunteer to do just that. If someone is happy enough to take an entrance fee they have a responsibility to the entrants. I've just published a book which I am giving away for free - it's a pain in the proverbial having to drive around the countryside at my expense giving them out but it is something that needs to be done and I feel a responsibility to do it.
