Lambing Flat Results

I don’t know if anyone else entered this – I entered again because I somehow managed to win it last year.

First Place ‘The Last Light Horse’ - Helen Harvey

Second place ‘WhiteChapel’ – Geoffrey Kay

Highly Commended

‘For Jean’ - Jerry Dolan
‘The Old Mine’ - Terry Piggott

Commended

‘Ode To A Russian Doll’ Allan Watts
‘When My Mind Has Died’ – Caenys Kerr
‘Mums Canary’ – Jim Kent

There were 115 entries apparently - And from what I can gather, it was open to all forms of poetry

Congratulations Terry! Well done again!

Yes, this competition was an open one - in conjunction with the Cherry Festival in Young NSW. I also enter it each year. I was fortunate enough to win it in 2011 - my very first entry in a written competition!

Good on you and nice to see at least two traditional poets (you and Helen Harvey) in the top prize winners.

Cheers, Shelley

Thanks Shelley

Last year was the first time I entered this one.

It was advertised on the ABPA this year so perhaps it will be an official Comp this time - it wasn't last year.

Cheers Terry

No, you are right - it has never been part of the official group of competitions in the past. Like you, I was pleasantly surprised to see it on our Events page this year - even though it is an "open" competition.
