The Kembla Flame (c)

Post by Zondrae » Mon Jul 16, 2012 9:57 pm

Final results for 'The Kembla Flame(c)'

First - Tom Macilveen - 'A Night At Joe Maguire's Pub'
Second - Leonie Parker - 'Sue's Barney'
Third - Kerrie Green - 'The Kembla Flame'
HC - Brenda Joy - 'Travelling With The Oldies'
HC - Tom McIlveen - 'Our Convict's Legacy'

As well as receiving the Flame Trophy, the winner's name will be engraved on a shield to be on permanent display at the South Coast Country Music Assn Headquarters at Mt Kembla.
The standard of the poems in general was so high that the judges decided to add three 'Commended' Certificates to the Awards.

Commended- David J Delaney -'Bark Telephone'
Commended - Terry Piggott- 'The Mystery Of The Pinnacles'
Commended - Yvonne Harper - 'Of Stories and Great Dreams'

It was a difficult task to separate firstly the top 20 from the 101 entries, and then to decide upon the winners.
The judging panel spent days pouring over the poems and commented many times that the poem they had in their hand could have won in another competition.

Yes there were 101 entries. I would like to personally thank all the ABPA family for supporting this new competition. In the wrap up I saw many familiar names. The Country Music people were suitably impressed and have already booked the Illawarra Breakfast Poets to entertain at the festival next year and you are assured 'The Kembla Flame(c)' will be on again.

Thanks for that Zondrae. Congratulations to all the winners.

Good to see our mate trublu in there, she's been a bit low profile lately.
