Mr Harding, I have already tried, to no apparent avail, to apologise for my momentary slip in describing the word in question as ‘profane’, which really was far too harsh….and to settle this matter before it became a huge storm in a teacup…once again to no avail…AND to protect Martin against having the joy of his fine achievement demoralised. I am now becoming quite weary of your consistent covert attacks upon my hard won reputation as a writer, performer, teacher and judge. I have clearly stated that I am the judge in question, and so I find your veiled statements about ‘’the judge’’ offensive. If, as you have stated, you take serious issue with me, then kindly address your criticisms directly to me, rather than drawing other long term friends and members on the site into this unnecessary disharmony.

In my judge’s report I only alluded to that word to alert any overly sensitive and/or overly self righteous folk of its inclusion, out of respect for their frailties. And now, as a senior member of this Association, I must insist that this issue be put to rest, as our objective is to support each other in pursuit of our craft; not to assassinate others’ characters...and in particular, mine.
Regretfully
Glenny Palmer

Goodonya Gary, profanity and "vulgarity" isn't the issue here - never has been. We are all adults, passionate about our craft and you will find how supportive and dedicated those in this group really are.

The issue, as I see it, is twofold.

One, the judges (Glenny's) definitions of a 'word' described as 'vulgar'.
'Pissed' in the Australian vernacular, has nothing to do with the genitals and is not 'vulgar'.
That was Glenny's error, to which she admitted - hey, we all make mistakes.

Two, passing judgement without considering ALL the facts.
Your posts seemed to ignore the judges (Glenny's) followup comments and they (your posts) launched straight into a 'high' moral stance about how your were 'offended' by vulgarity (alluding to Marty's piece). Not once in your posts did you acknowledge reading Marty's piece. That could be construed as rather pompous. In fact the posts then passed a moral judgement on how "this noble craft" should appear in your world, and how you were personally 'offended'.

Do yourself a favour and take a read of Marty's piece. It's good - DAMN good in fact.
with NO vulgarities - I guarantee it. (except for war, now THAT'S REALLY vulgar)

If your personal "weltanschauung" is still 'offended' by Marty's piece, I commend this little clip to you by Stephen Fry ...

I wonder where that last post went?
Perhaps regrets that it was sent?
Perhaps an admin passing by
consigned it to the bye and bye.

Perhaps it's best if last post plays
upon this topics last few days.
Another thread, another rhyme
will resurrect it all in time.

Go in peace.
