Maggie and I were in Noojee (Gippsland) last weekend. This (now disused) old railway trestle bridge caught our eye.

I guess they thought in those days that the supply of big hardwood was never ending. There looks like a few long straight trees in the area, would we want to chop them down for railway bridges ?

I suspect trees every bit as big as these are chopped down for far less noble purposes these days, Neville.

Nobody I know in Melbourne has even heard of Noojee - let alone the trestle bridge. I guess it is one of those gems you stumble upon accidentally - unless, of course, somebody posts photos of it on a forum!

That is a stunning place Stephen. The bridge is quite amazing. It's possibly a good thing that it isn't more widely known; that gives it a better chance of surviving the 21st century human race. Thank you for posting... such a pretty and precious place.
