Update on ABPA President Tom McIlveen

Post by Brenda Joy » Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:39 am

This message was sent from Tom's partner Susan --
Tom had surgery at Sydney Eye Hospital for a detached retina on the left eye last Saturday. The right eye still needs attention. His total vision is about 5%...very challenging.
Susan and Tom are home but tired and Tom has to spend five days on his tummy.
Thank you to Susan for keeping our members informed of Tom's progress. All good wishes from us all for a full recovery.

Thank you for the update Brenda.

I'm sure we're all dismayed to hear this, and wish Tom all the best through this difficult time, and a speedy and full recovery.

Get well soon Tom - from Shelley and Rod

Thanks, Brenda. A detached retina is very serious, but surgery has a high success rate. Let's hope that applies in Tom's case.

Sounds very similar to the Op My Wife Valma had a few days ago, she also had to lie on her tummy for a few days.

Hope all goes well Tom, as David said, the success rate of complicated eye surgery has increased greatly in recent times.
