Control your practice with a strong understanding of Business Basics for Creatives. Queensland Writers Centre presents this detailed two-part series on the fine print of contracts and how to keep a business financially stable.
Both workshops will provide industry insight with leading practitioners:

Session 1: Contracts and Copyright with Alex Adsett– 11.00am-1.00pm on Saturday 19 March;
Session 2: Finance for Creatives with Brian Tucker Accounting– 2.00-4.00pm on Saturday 19 March

The first seminar is suitable for any creative business seeking to gain a strong foundation on the structure of contracts, how to read them and what pitfalls to avoid.

The second seminar will address tax and financial concerns for independent practitioners. Financial tracking, reporting and understanding efficient invoice systems for precise financial management will be analysed.

Allow your creative practice to flourish this year with fundamental business principles. These seminars are online in real time, from anywhere in Australia, or available in-person in Brisbane.

Alex Adsett is a literary agent of genre fiction and publishing consultant specialising in copyright and contracts. With her expertise, participants will gain confidence in reading, analysing and negotiating contract changes.

Brian Tucker is a registered company auditor and Certified Practicing Accountant. Presently he is the Treasurer of the Arts Law Centre of Queensland, Elision, the Regional Galleries Association of Queensland, Museums Australia, Brisbane Youth Service, the Children’s Book Council and Playlab.
