Adelaide Plains Open Written Poetry Competition 2015/16

Post by Shelley Hansen » Sat Dec 05, 2015 2:06 pm

Hello All

The annual Adelaide Plains Poets Open Written Competition is on again - with a closing date of 29 January 2016.

This year the theme is "Transitions" and poems of not more than 60 lines must reference this theme in some way. There are classes for primary and secondary students, plus an open class.

This is not a bush poetry competition - but an open competition for all forms and styles of poetry. I realise that many bush poets prefer to avoid open competitions rather than compete against free verse and other styles. However, I encourage you to give it a go, because both David and I have previously won this competition with traditional rhyming verse.

The organiser Carolyn Cordon is a tireless worker and passionate advocate of our craft, and I believe she deserves our support. The prize money is good and the competition increases the exposure of our work.

Here is the link to the web entry form: http://carolyn-poeticpause.blogspot.com.au/

The entry form is not very printer-friendly from the Web, but I just copy and paste it to a Word document and it's fine.

Cheers, Shelley
