Those of you that did not see BEBE TONGS MM on the ABC here it is with out the extra parts of the show that do not belong

The Project episode LIGHTING UP THE TRACK http://kokodatrackfoundation.org

With this program it may help you to understand more about just how primitive it is there and just how lucky we are in this modern day and amenitys that we take for granted

Good on you Bill and thanks for sharing that it is truly inspirational and such a practical solution that doesn't cost million of dollars to instigate. Any service club or school or scout group could adopt that as a charity and put even small sums of monies raised to excellent use, and of course that could be applied to many poor areas around the world as well.

What an awesome man Bede is. In his 90's and still putting it out there. Good on him.

Cheers

Maureen

"Goodonya Bede" and all those good hearted people.

But please remember the mess we made 'civilizing' our native Australians.
We must not repeat those errors.

Query - why do we call it the Kokoda Track when written upon the overhead arch is - Kokoda Trail ?
Jim.

What the public don't see is on the other side of memorial gate at Owers Corner is written the Kokoda Track. Most trackers dont take shots of that. trail is an Americanisation of theme. To me it will always be the track because that just what it is.A Track. If you didn't take guide you wouldn't find your way over it

My uncle Dave always called it "track" and he was there. Seventh Div, 2/25th battalion.

"Thanks" Noel and Mal. My brother was in that neck of the woods, but he was a RAAF type. Probably never walked the TRACK.

As far as I am aware, neither did the Americans. Why then have we taken on their term ?
Jim.
