Long-time ABPA member Carmel Randle died in Toowoomba last Friday. I received notification today from her sister, Zita Denholm.

Hopefully, further information will be to hand soon.

I didn't know Carmel but regardless I feel for her family and friends. Hope she went gentle into the night.

I didn't know her, but I did get from her a copy of her little book on poetry writing. By all accounts she was a respected and loved bush poet and its sad news.

The Australian Bush Laureate Awards web-site tells us that Carmel won "Book of the Year" in 1997 with "Gone Bush!"

She also won the Judith Hosier Heritage Award in 2007.
