State Of Origin

Can you feel the distant rumble
Now it's building to a roar
It trembles through your body
Fills your being right to the core.

Some mates you work all year with
Seem to step outside your crew
Then your realise what is happening
Their skin is slowly turning blue.

Mate ya can't explain the feeling
Your gut curls up like a ball
It will set your skin a tingling
When you hear that Queensland call.

The battle lines are laid in stone
The division cut and clean
Your either Queenslander or Cockroach
There's bugger all in between.

The Blues look good on paper
But we've heard that spiel before
But paper men don't play this game
Just watch those canetoads roar.

The Roaches think they have a chance
But the doubt they can not hide.
When the chips are down that's when you'll see
That unbending Queensland pride.

We hold the shield it's ours to keep
It's a sound they hate to hear
The battle ground will run with blood
Then they'll hear our victory cheer.

Maroons were fit to go
Victory's smell was in the air
The Blues would get a crushing blow

Queensland's mighty men would win
and as by now we know
we slaughtered those who wear the Blue
this night was Queensland's show

Darren held the shield aloft
with well won pride he was aglow
a legend of this mighty game
we have six in a row

Nah nah ne nah nah and I'm not sure if it really fits or gets anywhere near the above rhyming pattern but maybe this one is an example of "it's the thought that counts"...

You can take the bushie out of Queensland but .... and how it'll hurt when the Blues win a series
