State Poetry Slam

I see where nearly all the heats for this years poetry slam have been slotted in the Brisbane area and the gold coast with one heat in Cairns.


I enquired about a heat in Yeppoon at the Village Festival and was told that I had one day to organise a submission so was not in the race.


So much for calling it the State Poetry Slam. It is being run by The Queensland Poetry Festival not the State Library so I think that explains it.

The one in our area has been done away with on the grounds that the regional arts coordinator cannot afford to pay for a venue, even though that person is employed and funded by the state minister for the arts.
