be afraid

Post by Neville Briggs » Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:16 pm

Yes, the year 2015 is now half over. From tomorrow only 177 sleeps to Christmas.

Be afraid, the green and red plague
is on the way, and you will pay
for truckloads of meaningless trinkets
from Shanghai,
Where Santa's little happy elves
work for sweatshop wages.
And all for us to celebrate
the birth of a swear word.

They now have in some places Christmas in July, if all you want is the roast dinner, plum pudding and port.

It's a jungle out there, Heather. ;)

I could be sentimental and pretend that it's not like that.

Christmas in July makes a hell of a lot more sense than Christmas in December - and it's cheaper and less hassle

It's a poetry thing, tell it like it is.

Read any decent anthology of poetry and you will find life being looked at with ruthless honesty, and it's a very gritty and .....( rhymes with gritty ) ..sight.

Shouldn't poetry be THE TRUTH even if it is presented as metaphor and hyperbole.
If we don't identify the disease how can we find the right cure.

Have a nice day. :)
