Xiangyu Looking to buy

A report in our local paper this week, I welcome foreign investment but we must be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.


WATCHING cattle being mustered on horseback by the shady banks of the Fitzroy River near Rockhampton yesterday was Eric Huang’s idea of paradise.

It’s an experience the young Chinese logistics manager might soon be enjoying even more, if plans by Chinese state-owned giant Xiangyu Group of Xiamen city to buy $300 million-$500m of cattle stations, abattoirs and feedlots in Australia in the next five to eight years come to fruition.
