Not my cup of tea or coffee for that matter.

Post by Bob Pacey » Mon Mar 23, 2015 7:42 am

It's free it's verse it's poetry ! Well that's what people say
there's heaps of it on other sites, you can read it every day.
They scribble words in garbled fashion, I see it all the time.
I reckon that they do that because they cannot make em rhyme.

Hope it does not take long to get this stuff out of ya systems ! Next thing you know we will have a section for Haiku .

The only reason I suggested it Bob, was that it's been creeping in for a long time
and apart from the odd whinge nothing was done about it.
At least now it's in it's own cubbyhole where you can visit or ignore.

When I first joined the forum it wouldn't have survived to see the light of day before it was removed.
The same thing happened if an off colour word was posted.

But as you know there has been a strong push by a few current members to take a more tolerant view.
And no, I wasn't one of them.

Cheers mate

We could always start a "What I had for tea" column - or a cooking segment - they're always popular. :)

G'day Bob, et. al. ...

Just to be clear, I don't dictate how this forum should be run - You all do.
I do try to fill the gaps and needs on these boards as they arise.

We have divergent views and varying tastes and we still seem to get along ...

There was a post suggesting we have a 'room' for non-rhyming verse.
Three members were in agreement. There was no contrary view or opposition
So I created a space (for the benefit of all). And gave it distinction so that we all knew what was there.

There are a number of rooms here that I prefer not to visit, so I seldom do - But OTHERS do ...

If three or more want to object to it's existence - AND there is no opposition ...
I'll take it down ...

M.

I'm ok with it Manfred. I was trying to point out that all sorts of topics are discussed here - so why not "other" poetry which has it's own little space and no one is forced to read it.

I'm not keen on the jokes but I don't object to others reading them if they want to. It's like a book -you don't have to read it. Lots of bush poets have had a play with non rhyming poems. It broadens the horizons.

I did not know we were taking a survey or I would have objected ?

I read every post and I mean every post cannot stand those little unread things on my screen

If it draws in a few more poets wouldn't that be a good thing?

If it doesn't draw in more poets we have lost nothing other than a bit of space on the forum.

We do have freedom of choice still in this country and on this forum - read it if you dare, ignore it if you want to, contribute anonymously if you choose to - it's not a big deal.

It is poetry and it can be as Australian as we want it to be - and feel free to add in as much bush as makes you comfortable  I for one hope it stays because I can see no good and reasonable reason as to why it shouldn't - it does not detract from our Bush Poetry at all - anymore than Golden Syrup ruins a damper.
