Apology to Bob

It seems that I have offended Bob by some flippant remarks I have made about Queensland.

Bob, I know you are very passionate about your home state and you take it very seriously. I meant no offense to yourself or any other Queenslander by my remarks. I apologise for any hurt I may have caused you.

In anticipation that you will accept this public apology and talk to me once more.

Heather

I've never made a secret of the fact that I would never live in QLD. I don't like the humidity or the heat. But I would not live in the Mallee or Wimmera either (both in Victoria) and heaps of other places for all sorts of reasons - it's not personal. I have holidayed in Cairns and loved it there - but it wasn't in the hottest part of the year. I've had a holiday in Alice Springs but I wouldn't live there either.

I have met some really nice people in QLD though and like the lifestyle. Can't have everything.

Heather :)

I am sure Bob will talk to you Heather - he's been through a lot the past week and is doubtless a bit stressed and that makes us take things to heart more than we normally do. We Queenslanders know that our state is beautiful one day and perfect the next and we don't do daylight saving - so 'state envy' is understandable. ;) He's got to forgive you - you share a photograph

Love you Queensland

When I went up to see Kym and Marty two years ago I stopped somewhere for a coffee in my travels - It was a McDonalds, can't remember where (nth of Rocky, south of Townsville -Innisfail maybe) and I was chatting to a local lady there and she was so impressed that I was travelling all that way on my own. She invited me to stay at her place if I needed somewhere to stay on my way back. I was pretty impressed with how friendly and laidback people were. It's country Australians I think and there's something very casual about the QLD lifestyle that I do like - just can't hack the humidity - I've said it before, it makes my hair go frizzy. :)

Check ya atlas Heather - Innisfail is not south of Townsville :)

Interesting fact: Innisfail used to be called Geraldton in the early days (yes the same as the one in WA) until a supply boat rocked up one day and had made a monumental blue by arriving at the wrong Geraldton. To avoid this recurring they simply changed the name of the town.

 It was a wild guess Marty. I nearly said south of Cairns - that would have been safer. Don't ask me to land troops on a beach any time soon!
