I watched a documentary on TV the other day ( called Warhorse ) about horses used by the British military in WW1. Now that was endurance for those horses. Horrendous.

There was stuff in that show that I had never known about, too upsetting for yourself and Maureen I fear.

I probably know about it Neville and the ultimate gift we gave them for their service was a bullet :( - I fear similar for our EDD dogs of war in Afghanistan since Australian quarantine informed me that no dog from Afghanistan would be permitted entry into Australia.

According to this doco, 60,000 horses returned to England and 500,000, mostly harness horses, were sold to French farmers who returned them to farm work. The other 250,000.. :cry: . General Seeley's horse " Warrior " got home and lived the life of Riley in the longyard until 33 years of age.
