Slang

Post by warooa » Sun Dec 01, 2013 5:38 pm

I like to think I'm pretty well-versed in Aussie slang but found a few words I'd not encountered before. Whether obscure or before my time I dunno - anyone shed light on any of these?

KEEK
GAZOB
DONAH
SLEEVER
JOSSER
CLINER
DOXIE
OOPIZOOTICS

Cheers, Marty

I'm told 'cliner' is Yiddish for 'small'. (The German for 'small' is 'klein'.) Slang for a woman, or a girl.

I'd love to know what 'gazob' means! C.J. Dennis uses it in the Bloke.
