I heard on the news that the Irish poet Seamus Heaney had died yesterday. He was one of the great poets of our time. One of my favourites of his is..The Railway Children.

Stephen. He was ' earthy ' and hard hitting. His poem about the young woman buried for centuries in the tar pit and his poem about the IRA killings are very striking. He was also lyrical like his poem Homecomings which starts
Fetch me the sandmartin
skimming and veering
breast to breast with himself
in the clouds of the river.

As you would know Matt. ;)
