Hi Bob
I am inspired by Lawson's 'Eureka'. It's a great poem, as is anything by Lawson.

always liked the tale of Andy's gone with Cattle and it is not a really long poem - one of Henry's and also his one The Cattle Dogs Death. That one always makes me teary.

Cheers

What about

"The Lights Of Cobb and Co.".

Now I don't know the poem at all, having heard the title ut I don't recall ever having read the poem. Perhaps I have heard it somewhere back in the archives of time, because the name just popped into my head as some as I read Bob's request. I'm off now to look it up. I'm sure it will be in one of the fine anthologies or collections of Australian poets and poems that my girls have given me over the years. I'll get back to you shortly.

Yeah Bob. Get away from Paterson. Every poem you mentioned was an old cliché Paterson job except for that bloody horrible old My Country!!! There are hundreds of great old poems around. Don't let yourself get bogged down in the old crap. I tell you from experience, people do not want to get get bombarded with it it. Either look for obscure stuff or write it.

I agree.
By the way, would anyone be interested in some research I did on "My Country"? It seems to be VERY similar to a song called "Australia Fair" written and published by Maybanke Anderson in 1902.
