Yeah interestingly, they tried to get him to mate but he showed no interest in the girls they gave him, was happier doing all his impersonations and noises for the people. Odd and a little bit sad me thinks?

Interesting - Chook, the Poof lyrebird ...

Mannie Artistes are allowed indeed expected to be temperamental. Chooky was obviously not given to flights of fancy and had set his soul to achieving greatness and recognition through his wonderful impersonations.

People are talking and writing and remembering Chook now because of his impersonations. Would they be doing the same if Chook was just another fornicating Lyrebird?

Funny, I'd never thought of Lyrebirds as fornicating before today. They will never be the same again in my eyes now Maureen.

It is amazing how this bird can imitate mechanical sounds in such variety. I thought I heard some imitation of human speech, that is the most amazing.

just spent his whole life trying to tell us all something in as many different ways he could.
