ABPA - Australian Bush Poets Association

Hello everyone,
This is not too relevant to Bush poetry but I would like to seek your opinion.
Yesterday I recieved a Highly Commended in the Stringybark Australian History Short Story Awards 2011.

It was an on-line competition and I was introduced to it by a member of my writng group. Have any of you heard of it before? Is it a bona-fide comp and a good thing to get an award from them?
I know there are some competitions online not worth much salt -how about this one? I would welcome your feedback.

Story title: Kamilaroi Country.

Don't know Wendy about the comp but I sure as hell would be interested in reading you story. The property I lived on was in Kamilaroi country. On the old site I had a poem on the Kamilaroi people...I will repost it..you might be interested.

Hi Wendy, congratulations!
I entered last year and was one of the finalists, so IMO a Highly Commended is great! I intended entering again this year, but ran out of time.
I'm not sure how prestigious it is - it's only a new award - but in David Vernon's emails during the year, there was discussion about having an unpublished authors only section, but they decided against it so that it would mean more to win.
So while it may not be the Booker, I think you can be proud of your achievement. I would certainly celebrate!

Wendy - how about putting it into the yarns section - I am sure that would be OK. Seems your comp was a ridgey didge one as well according to Robyn so good on you - a HC displayed on the wall is not to be sneezed at.
