The Sundowners with Deborah Kerr and Robert Mitchum based I think on a book by John Cleary; Robbery Under Arms with Peter Finch; Sunday Too Far Away starring Jack Thompson and those many Aussie bush howlers made with Chips Rafferty?

Vic, I recently read a biography of Charles Chauvel written by his widow, Elsa. It's a great read. Essentially, each film has its own chapter. I'll lend it to you sometime if you like. What particularly sticks in my mind is the story of their voyage onto and then off again Pitcairn Island - which does not have a jetty! - for the filming of 'In the Wake of the Bounty'.

Love to read the book Stephen. Charles and Elsa Chauvel were legendary figures in the Australian film industry for many years.
His Forty Thousand Horsemen and Jedda were two of his best in my opinion. Saw Jedda on tv last year and it still stands as a good film.
