The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Western educational machinery..can make good robots but cannot even define a good man.
The postmodern university can teach one how to travel to Mars but not how to live in one's
home or nation.

Recent elections show that a new kind of superficiality is beginning to replace meritocracy; one that prefers glamour and charisma to character and competence.

p.s. in case you are wondering; meritocracy means ..rule by those who have merit, ability and competence. A strange concept in the media assessment of Australian politics these days.

Superficiality...correct, but you know it comes down to us the voters. Perhaps we need someone to remind us that we get what we vote for and that actually we don't have to vote for anyone at all. Amazing how many wonderful amateur politicians there are on the internet who seem to know more than our elected politicians when it comes to government.
Perhaps we should be able to vote for those who post their thoughts on Facebook.

We are stardust
We are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

I don't think poets get ideas for poems, they get words; that's their gift and they forget it at their peril.

The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling,
Doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven;
And as imagination bodies forth
The form of things unknown, the poet's pen
Turns them into shapes, and gives to airy nothing
A local habitation and a name.
