Heather, Many years ago in the Sydney Town Hall , the conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra took a step backward on the conductor's podium and fell off the stage. Got badly hurt too. That was disastrous . After that the Sydney Town Hall conductor's podium had a metal rail behind the conductor's back.

Me thinks he forgot to step forward first.....
