That's the " red herring' argument , the Economy is not driven by what we need but by where the marketeers can con people into spending , whether we get anything useful or worthwhile for our money is immaterial to the Economy.

We all need food, marketers or no marketers - it might change the brand we buy, or the type of food, but not the fact that we need food (unless we are a little corpulent and could use a little less). Even marketers need to eat. Even cantankerous old men have to eat.
